Hatidza Asovic Receives Social Justice Award from PEPP


Our Community is full of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Occasionally, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. The dedicated work of the esteemed recipient of this award has become noticed by PEPP and has been selected by the PEPP leaders to receive the 2003 Caryl Penner Social Justice Award.

At the November 16th, 2003 Annual Meeting, People Escaping Poverty Project awarded the Caryl Penner Social Justice Award to Hatidza Asovic.

Ms. Asovic has earned this award for her work assisting the Bosnian and Roma Communities in Fargo-Moorhead. Hatidza Asovic currently works as a Vista at the Cultural Diversity Resources.

PEPP is a local non-profit organization that has been doing Community Organizing in the Fargo-Moorhead area since 1986. Caryl Penner was a co-founder of PEPP and passes away from cancer in 2001.

This award honors Caryl Penner’s commitment and contribution to Social Justice in this community.
