Hatidza Asovic is a committed parent, dedicated community
member and has contributed greatly to the Fargo-Moorhead Community.
She has done this by:
- Building power throughout the Bosnian and Roma Communities
by bringing them together on issues such as domestic violence and
immigration law.
- Helped the Roma community start a community group and
identify problems they desire to work on.
- Brought individuals to the governor’s office to discuss the
new immigration laws and how they are affecting the Roma people.
- Constantly working to bring equality to all cultural and
ethnic groups.
- Successful in bringing in multicultural involvement across
the cultures- not just her own.
- Brings a passion for getting the people’s voices heard,
brings people forward and develops leaders.
- Lives in the Public eye and puts all of herself forward
publicly.
- Uses confrontation and negotiation skills
- Sees the unjust and works for justice
- Committed to challenging the institutionalization of public
systems
- Uses human rights framework in her daily tasks
- Encourages others to take leadership roles
- Brings new communities and individuals to the table
- Works to build leadership and capacity among immigrant women
Hatidza Asovic is an asset to this community and her work will leave
the legacy of Freedom we can all be proud of. Therefore, on the
behalf of the PEPP Board and the PEPP Organization, Hatidza Asovic is
awarded with the Caryl Penner Social Justice Award.
